Sinn developing v.7750 variant with l.5195 layout

Sinn developing a Valjoux 7750 variant with a decidedly Lemania 5195 look.

From Sinn's website: “we redesigned the proven and operator-safe Valjoux 7750 under the designation sp 01 in such a way that this movement has now a jumping minute stop counting from the dial center.

This has a striking resemblence to the layout of the Lemania 5195 as seen in the Eberhardt & Co. Frecce Tricolori:

Thus, it appears that Sinn will have a model of watch with a 24-Hour sub-dial, a center pinion minute counter to sell to military buyers in the near future (if not already) as long as they can get the Valjoux/ETA 7750 movement.

It still seems to me to be a shame that Lemania is discontinuing production of the 5100 (presumedly at Swatch Group's order). Especially when: Sinn, Fortis, Tutima (and likely Bell & Ross) among others would likely buy out every 5100 Lemania made if they continued production.

The world needs more choices when it comes to base watch (especially chronograph) movements, not fewer. It's ashame the 5100 is being put out to pasture long before it's time.

There is an interesting thread on this topic over at Purist's watch discussion forum (Thanks Chris M. for bringing that discussion to my attention...)...

New Airport Security concern, Casio watches...

MS-NBC is reporting about an advisory issued Monday by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to have airport screeners keep an eye out for wristwatches containing cigarette lighters or altimeters made by Casio...

I personally haven't flown since the late 1990's, as I haven't had a compelling need to but as time goes on, driving myself or taking the train or bus seems like a better and better idea all the time.

Right on! Bas! Bas Van Dorp's Sinn EZM1 review...

RJ's Fratello Watches weblog hosts a review that Bas van Dorp did on his new Sinn EZM1 arrival...

In the review Bas starts out: “About two years ago, I read that Lemania would end the production of the cal. 5100. The horror! The guys who came up with this idea will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes, that's for sure.”...

Right on! Bas! I'm right there with you on that one!

Enjoy the review!

Does this scare anyone else?

I go to TAG-Heuer's page & the splash panel says:

Does this scare anyone else?

I get this forboding that TAG is going to announce something so gaudy it would make Breitling blush.

What do you all think?
